“There is a garden in Marrakech for which I feel a real passion”
Yves Saint Laurent

When Yves Saint Laurent discovered Marrakech in 1966, he was so moved by the light and colors of the landscape that he decided to purchase a home and return often. During their time in Marrakech, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé would often take long walks through the neighboring Jardin Majorelle, a extraordinary garden of exotic plants and foliage carefully created by the French artist Jacques Majorelle. It was in this garden that Yves Saint Laurent found both solitude and inspiration for some of his most memorable haute couture collections.

By 1980, the gardens had fallen into disrepair and were slated for commercial development. To save Jardin Majorelle and its heritage from destruction, Saint Laurent and Bergé purchased the gardens and began the onerous process of restoring the gardens to its former glory with the world renowned landscape designer, Madison Cox, who is today the Director of the Jardin Majorelle and Vice-President of the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent.

Esensual Living is proud to present a curated selection of handcrafted items by Creative Director, Stephen di Renza, for Jardin Majorelle and Fondation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent.
